From the very beginning, I had a playful vision for how I wanted this book to unfold. There were countless fun little debates in my mind about which letters to choose—like, should R be for Rail or Raver? (You’ll find out in the book!) Below, you’ll see the original sketches that brought these ideas to life.
As you can probably tell from my sketches above, I’m definitely not an artist (haha), so I needed someone special to bring my vision to life. After reaching out to friends and family, I finally found the perfect match—an amazing children's book illustrator named Michelle! She created the most adorable, colorful graphics that captured the magic of The ABCs of Rave just the way I imagined it.
Every page was made with so much love, thought, and care. I wanted every little detail to be just perfect! There were even moments where I had to remind myself to step back a bit so Michelle wouldn’t fire me from my own project, haha! Below is “A is for Artist” and all the fun edits we went through to create the final look.
Since this book is self-published, it was up to me to find the right manufacturer and supplier. I knew I wanted to sell on Amazon because it's the easiest platform, but I quickly realized that Amazon only offers paperback and hardcover options. For The ABCs of Rave, I dreamed of a sturdy, cardboard style that would feel amazing in your hands. So, as the final edits wrapped up, I carefully picked a supplier who could bring that high-quality, playful feel to life—something both I and my readers would absolutely love!
The first round of books were sent to my dads house where he Facetimed me and I nervously asked him to flip through every single page to make sure no letters were missing (phew).
I knew I found the perfect supplier when I held the first copy in my hands. The printing color, cardboard, and quality were perfection.
Now that my book was brought to life, it was time to start marketing and get the word out which brings you here!
I have a few ideas brewing for the future, but right now, my heart is focused on this book and getting it into the hands of all the new rave moms, dads, and their babies. Creating this project has been such a joy, and I really hope that love shines through when you read the book! #PLUR
